Opening night celebration for WORLDFEST-HOUSTON the 49th Annual Houston International Film Festival is Friday, April 8th
WORLDFEST is proud to book-end the festival with 2 Houston, Texas productions opening with Bo Brinkman’s LAST MAN CLUB and closing with HOPE, a Charles Irving production directed by Lakisha Lemons. Multi-award winning Director Bo Brinkman’s newest feature, LAST MAN CLUB is a film years in the making, that pays tribute to his own Father, a WWII vet. The film involves a small group of WWII veterans who set out on a personal mission many years after the war has ended to honor a pact they made. It is a wonderful film about grit, true loyalties and determination – real life issues with a touch of humor. Many of the scenes were shot at Ellington Field. Barry Corbin will be on hand to accept the 2016 WorldFest REMI Lifetime Achievement Award for his amazing career. Many other cast members also plan to attend. WorldFest will host a VIP Champagne Reception after the screening.
WorldFest is also showcasing 80 Independent feature films and 106 short films, The 11th Annual Panorama Italia with several directors attending, The 2nd Panorama China with a cornucopia of new great films from China with their directors in attendance. Opening the Panorama China is the World Premiere of THE COMPACT DENSITY OF STONE, a compelling film about the life of Deng Xiaopeng, China’s paramount leader who helped open China to the West.
There are comedies, thrillers, dramas and more…! Even a few experimentals as well as eye-opening documentaries so there is plenty to choose from for your viewing pleasures…!
