The Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting the 20th Day of the Child Anniversary Celebration this Saturday, May 28, from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Magnolia Multi-Service Center at 7037 Capitol, Houston, Texas, 77011.
Day of the Child is based on El Dia de los Ninos, a national holiday focused on valuing and uplifting all children and youth in the United States. Some historical information on Day of the Child can be found by clicking here.
This event will be rich with visual elements including families and children participating in services like haircuts, arts and crafts, dances and piñata fun while visiting the Houston Police Department’s on-site helicopter and the Houston Fire Department’s shiny red fire truck. Screening: Hearing, vision for adults, blood pressure, diabetes and more…all free of charge.
Prevention: Medical information and eligibility for Chips, Medicaid, social and educational resources, nutrition, dental hygiene; information on Zika disease, lead and fire prevention, disaster preparedness, home and child safety and child finger prints.
Activities: Haircuts, crafts, games, children’s talents and dances, Kids’ Meal, piñata and children’s grand raffle of one gift certificate of $100.00, one gift card for $50.00, two gift certificates for $25.00 and 30 “golden tickets” gifts.
