Lone star Symphonic BandThe Band, which in previous years rehearsed and performed at CrossPoint Community Church, has officially moved to Holy Covenant United Methodist Church for all of its rehearsals and concerts beginning with the 2016-2017 season.  This move allows the band space to store its percussion and equipment, a larger stage to perform on, a choir loft behind the band for the community choir that performs annually with the band, and an opportunity for patrons to sit in the balcony during performances.  Both the Band and Church are excited about working with each other this season.  Holy Covenant United Methodist Church is located at 22111 Morton Road, Katy, Texas.

Music Director Mr. Bob Bryant has an exciting season lined up for the Lone Star Symphonic Band as well.  The October 23rd, 2016 concert is titled “A Touch of Class-ical” and will include classical symphonic literature to classic rock pieces.  On December 11th, 2016 the Band will present “The Perfect Gift,” the Band’s annual Christmas concert.  Texas and Rodeo themed music can be heard on the March 3rd, 2017 concert titled “It’s Texas, Ya’ll!”  The Band will help prepare everyone for summer with the May 5th, 2017 concert titled “The 3 R’s of Summer.”  The annual Patriotic concert, “America, Land That I Love!” will be performed on July 2nd, 2017.  All concerts will be performed in the main sanctuary of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, and will begin at 4:00 pm.  Individual concert tickets are available on the Band’s website for $6.50 each, with season tickets available for $25.50 each.

The Lone Star Symphonic Band is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to bringing performances of artistic merit to the Houston metropolitan area.  Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the band is comprised of musicians from all walks of life and instills the value that music is a life-long event, continuing well beyond high school and college.  In December 2012, the Lone Star Symphonic Band was awarded the Sudler Silver Scroll.  The Sudler Silver Scroll is North America’s most prestigious award for Community Concert Bands. The award is administered by the John Philip Sousa Foundation (www.sousafoundation.net).  The purpose of the award is to identify, recognize and honor those community bands that have demonstrated particularly high standards of excellence in concert activities over a period of several years, and which have played a significant and leading role in the cultural and musical environment in their respective communities. The Band is under the direction of Mr. Bob Bryant.
