Texas AgriLifeThe Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Fort Bend County will conduct a six-part series of small acreage management programs and workshops once a month starting in May. These workshops will each have different subject-matter material, but all are geared toward small acreage landowners with up to 50 acres.  However, you do not have to be a small acreage landowner to attend.  Anyone is welcome.

The fifth workshop, “Livestock Management Overview: Cattle, Goats, Pigs, and Chickens”, will be held on Thursday, September 15th, sign-in will begin at 6:00 pm and the workshop will begin at 6:30 pm and last until 8:00 pm at the Fort Bend County Extension Office, 1402 Band Road, in Rosenberg. This seminar will provide information on the basic requirements for livestock including chickens, goats, cattle, and pigs. It will merely scratch the surface of topics like nutrition, health, and housing, and is meant to be a primer for more in-depth future programs to be offered both in the county and elsewhere. This is designed for individuals considering livestock as a hobby or for personal use.

The cost to attend this workshop is $15 with a meal included. Other sessions are tentatively scheduled for October 6th. Please check our website at http://fortbend.agrilife.org/ for updated information and to download a registration form. For questions, please contact Brandy at  281-342-3034 or brandy.rader@ag.tamu.edu. Space is limited to 25 participants, so please register with payment by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13th.
