ann_bracher_vaughan(Austin, TX), October 13, 2016 – In honor of her outstanding contributions to the travel and tourism industry in Texas, Ann Bracher Vaughan, president & CEO of the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Bureau, was presented with the Tall in Texas award by the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA). Vaughan received the award on Oct. 11 during the association’s 31st Annual Texas Travel Summit, held this year in Houston.

Vaughan is an advocate and ambassador for all that Texas has to offer. Her efforts have ensured legislative support and funding to promote the state’s travel and tourism industry. She has been a longtime and stalwart member of the TTIA Legislative Affairs Committee and she has left a lasting impression on the Texas travel industry.

“Ann’s remarkable ability to develop trusting relationships with local and statewide elected officials has allowed her to be heard when others may not,” said TTIA President & CEO David Teel. “Under her leadership, Port Aransas has become a jewel on the Texas Gulf Coast. She truly embodies all that the Tall in Texas award signifies and has taken on both travel and political issues that impact the climate for her community and the entire industry.”

“Receiving this award is the most rewarding honor to have been bestowed on me,” said Vaughan in her acceptance speech. “I am both awed and humbled to be recognized by my peers and colleagues in this wonderful industry.  When you love what you do, the people you work with, the destination you have the privilege of promoting, and feel like you’ve contributed somewhat to make the world a better place, what more could you ask for in a career.”

The Tall in Texas award is given to an individual nominated from the TTIA membership for outstanding contributions, leadership and innovations that have a lasting effect on tourism and TTIA.
