Seven Lakes achieved its best finish at state, scoring 168 points to rank fifth in Class 6A, Nov. 12, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The Lady Spartans finished ninth at state last year, but a senior laden lineup this year set a school record in its final race of 2016.
Cinco Ranch finished sixth with 188 points in another strong showing. Enrique Hernandez de Tejada reached Round Rock as an individual and broke the 16 minute mark, placing 48th with a time of 15:59.65.
The Katy boys took an experienced group to Round Rock and placed eighth. Tompkins sent its first team in school history to state and finished 11th in the boys’ team standings. The Falcons’ Daniel Figueroa posted the best finish among KISD individuals, ranking 22nd with a time of 15 minutes, 37.90 seconds.
