The fundraising event put on by the Law Enforcement Torch run supports more than 9,900 SOTX athletes.

HOUSTON – Icy cold water awaits those who are brave enough to take part in the annual Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Polar Plunge at Typhoon Texas Waterpark (555 Katy Fort Bend Rd.) on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10:00 a.m. Those willing to take the challenge can register in advance here.

In order to accept this challenge, an entry fee of $30 for children and $60 for adults is required. Additional funds raised will qualify participants for various incentive prizes, including a six-pack cooler, stainless steel water bottle and a fleece blanket for each donation level they meet. (The more money raised, the more incentives one receives!) All monies raised will go toward providing Special Olympics programming for more than 9,900 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the Greater Houston Area.

Participants will plunge into frigid water all for a good cause. To add to the fun, costumes are encouraged and those wearing one will be contenders for the Best Costume Award. Awards will also be presented to the Top Fundraising Plunger and the Top Fundraising Team.

Necessary precautions will be in place to ensure that all participants can enjoy a safe and fun experience. There will be divers, lifeguards and medical and emergency personnel on standby

The Polar Plunge is put on by the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), SOTX’s largest grass-roots fundraiser.
