Register Now for Pedaling the Prairie a BP MS 150 Recommended Ride

(January 5, 2017- Katy, TX) There is still time to register for Pedaling the Prairie 2017.  Riders have until January 22 to take advantage of the early-bird discount rate of $35 per person.  After that date, the rate will be $40 per person.  Race day registration is $45 per person.  Signing up early offers an additional bonus:  the first 500 registrants receive a free pair of Pedaling the Prairie performance socks.  Teams or families of four riders may register for a discounted fee of $100 per team. The ride, which is a BP MS150 Recommended Ride, takes place Saturday, February 4, 2017. It begins at the Waller County Fairgrounds (22000 Fairground Road in Hempstead) and cruises past the rice fields and prairie between Bellville and Katy.  Riders can choose between several well-planned routes, from a 24-mile beginner course to a 71-mile endurance ride.  Breakfast and registration open at 7 a.m., with the ride beginning at 9 a.m.  The post-race party begins at 11 a.m., and the course closes at 3:30 p.m.  The ride goes on rain or shine!

More than 1,600 riders are expected to participate in the ride, which benefits the Eagle Initiative and Faith West Academy’s athletic department. This is the 11th year of the ride, which is one of the most successful and popular BP MS150 Recommended Rides.  There is special attention to detail for rider comfort and safety with breakpoints located every 10-15 miles along the racecourse, and police escorts will be at major intersections. SAG vehicles and Ride Marshall Support will be provided.

Current sponsors are Keystone Structural Concrete LLC and The Kroger Co.  Also sponsoring the event are The Athlete Stop, Chamois Butt’r, Community Coffee, No Label Brewery, RoadID, Cliff Bar, Pickle Power, Alpha Graphics, Houston Cycling Centers and Handlebar Cycling.

The Eagle Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and well-being of children ages pre-K to 18 years in Katy and west Houston.  We do this through a variety of programs and projects, including Education Initiatives (English & Language Arts, STEM, Fine Arts, and Vocational Instruction); Health and Fitness Events; and Community Service Projects.

Faith West Academy (FWA) is a private, Christian elementary and secondary school located in Katy, Texas.  The school’s enrollment is approximately 530 students in preschool through 12th grade.  FWA is accredited by the International Christian Accrediting Association and by AdvanceED/SACS.
