Family-friendly event is Saturday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m.
What: Opera to Go! presents its 76th and final performance of Hansel and Gretel, in a free, family-friendly event at Katy United Methodist Church. Adults and children alike will delight in this enchanting fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm with colorful costumes and sets, familiar music by Engelbert Humperdinck, and libretto by Kate Pogue. Lost in the woods and hungry, two siblings are drawn to a magical gingerbread house. However, the unpleasant tenant may have more than baking on her mind.
Who: Opera to Go!, part of HGOco, Houston Grand Opera’s community engagement arm, is a touring company of professional singers that presents short musical works, complete with costumes and sets, for children and families in schools, community centers, and churches. The next presentation, a world premiere children’s opera called Monkey and Francine in the City of Tigers, kicks off January 29, 2018 and runs through May 18, 2018.
