(Fulshear, TX – Dec. 18, 2017)       —        The 2017 Scarecrow Fest in Cross Creek Ranch struck gold for two local charities as nearly 8,000 people attended the annual seasonal fete, raising $20,000 for Arts Fulshear and the Texana Center.

The annual Scarecrow Festival in Cross Creek Ranch raised $20,000 this year for beneficiaries Arts Fulshear and Texana Center. Arts Fulshear offers classes and events for all ages to bring art to the surrounding area. The Texana Center has plans for a Fulshear campus to provide treatment for autism, programs for adults with intellectual disabilities and those with behavioral healthcare issues. Shown here, Cross Creek Ranch General Manager Rob Bamford awards Texana Center’s Director of Specialized Services Kate Johnson-Patagoc, right, with the $10,000 check. Also shown is Tracey Shaw, Director of Development & Community Relations for the Texana Center.

“We set new records in attendance, the number of sponsors and vendors, and in the amount we raised for two very worthy organizations,” said Rob Bamford, General Manager of Cross Creek Ranch.

Founded in 2011, Arts Fulshear is a 501c(3) organization that provides and supports art and cultural events, art education and public art in the Fulshear community. Existing programs include summer art camps and theater workshops, adult art classes, after-school art classes at Huggins Elementary and the annual Fulshear Art Walk, held in Cross Creek Ranch.

The Texana Center is a 501c(3) organization whose mission is to change lives every day through treatment for autism, programs for adults with intellectual disabilities and those with behavioral healthcare issues. The center currently has a campaign underway to raise funds for a campus in Fulshear that will include a store and coffee shop for retail training in its first phase, a Children’s Center for Autism and a Center for Learning that will provide a new concept, college-like program for adults with autism and/or intellectual disabilities.

A highlight of Scarecrow Fest was the “Scarecrowlympics,” which attracted 26 entrants vying for cash prizes. The Miss Fulshear Beauty Pageant won the $1,000 first-place prize with its “Miss Fulshear Olympic Legends” scarecrow. Tying for second place and winning $500 each were “Craig BOO!ggio” by Stephen Kana and “Medal Ceremony” by Rowena Laine. Third place winner Carmel Jasso took home $250 for the “Perfect 10 Ice Skater.”

The Scarecrow Fest is one of several anticipated Fulshear-area events that are held in Cross Creek Ranch. Homes in the community are priced from the $220,000s.
