WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Needville resident and recent high school graduate, Katie Vacek, will attend President Trump’s State of the Union address on January 30, 2018 as his guest.
Katie Vacek was a Needville High School cheerleader, enjoying her senior year with her boyfriend, Kernie Baker when she suffered a terrible accident while climbing a tree. Katie lost her balance and fell; she suffered a fractured sternum, multiple broken ribs, partially collapsed lung and a broken spine. She is paralyzed from the waist down, but refuses to let her injuries define her or bring her down. Katie’s family, boyfriend, the doctors at TIRR Memorial Herman, and the town of Needville rallied around her. Katie will travel to Washington, DC to attend the presidential address with Olson.
