Katy ISD Announces Principal of Schmalz Elementary

KATY [February 27, 2018] – Katy Independent School District welcomes Charlotte Gilder as the new principal of Schmalz Elementary School.  Mrs. Gilder has worked in the field of education for 24 years.  She has been a teacher, counselor and assistant principal.

“I am looking forward to serving the Schmalz students, families and staff,” said Charlotte Gilder, new principal for Schmalz Elementary. “I know it’s going to be a fun-filled adventure as we work together to pave the way to excellence.  I can’t wait to see how high we soar as a school and community!” she added.

In 1994, Ms. Gilder began her educational career as a teacher in Port Arthur ISD and Goose Creek Consolidated ISD.  She later became the reading/writing specialist for Kirk Elementary at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.  Several years later, she became a counselor at both Lamar Consolidated ISD and Katy ISD.  Following her counseling career, she joined Katy ISD and became assistant principal first at Mayde Creek Elementary from then at Beckendorff Junior High and later at Tom Wilson Elementary.  Her most recent administrative position was at Morton Ranch Junior High where she was the student support assistant principal.

Ms. Gilder holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University.  Additionally, she holds a Master’s of Arts in Counseling and Development as well as a Master’s of Education in School Administration. Both were awarded from Prairie View A&M.

Ms. Gilder will begin her new role on March 15
