Dear Parents, Staff and Community Members,

We know how important it is for you to ensure that your child is prepared to succeed on the SAT.  In an effort to help you better understand the changes, and how these will impact students, Katy ISD is hosting two Redesigned SAT Community Information Sessions on September 15 and 29.

As you may already know, College Board will be administering a redesigned SAT beginning March 2016.  It was developed to support college readiness and success for students by focusing on the knowledge and skills that current research shows are most essential for college and career success.

Students, parents and community from any area of the District are invited to attend any of the Information Sessions listed below.

DATE: SCHOOL: ADDRESS: TIME:
September 15 Mayde Creek High School – Main Campus Commons 19202 Groeschke Rd 6:30 p.m.
September 29 Tompkins School – Main Campus Commons 4400 Falcon Landing Blvd. 6:30 p.m.

The first administration of the redesigned PSAT will be October 2015, while the first administration of the redesigned SAT will be in March 2016.

In the meantime, your student may take advantage of the personalized SAT practice tests now offered by Khan Academy in partnership with College Board.  The official SAT practice tests will give students personalized practice recommendations and instant feedback on how they’re doing.

We also urge you to take a moment to review the Frequently Asked Questions regarding the redesigned SAT and the presentation made by a College Board representative during the April 2015 Board of Trustees Work Study.

For additional information on the changes to the SAT, to view sample questions, and to sign up for updates, parents and students are encouraged to visit the College Board website.
