One of the nation’s most prominent and provocative intellectuals to address “Black Lives Matter” and other pressing cultural issues in intimate setting
WHAT:The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is proud to welcome renowned philosopher and author Cornel West, Ph.D. – professor of philosophy and Christian practice at Union Theological Seminary and professor emeritus at Princeton University – to campus for a public lecture on pressing social and cultural issues.
The event will enable Houstonians to hear one of the nation’s most passionate and outspoken social activists, and provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions about today’s influential “Black Lives Matter” movement and race in America, among other topics.
Dr. West is a former professor of Yale University, Harvard University and the University of Paris. He has written more than 20 books, created three spoken-word albums and appeared in over 25 films and documentaries. He is a frequent, national social and political commentator on networks including CNN, C-Span, MSNBC, Fox News, and others.
Please Note: Tickets are free, but attendees must have a ticket to enter the event.
Auditorium seating is limited and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. UHD will provide overflow seating in separate rooms with audio/visual capabilities once the auditorium is full. The public can reserve tickets online through the UHD website (www.uhd.edu).
