Just imagine: you are driving home from work, mulling over your list of things to do, when you see a friendly looking dog wandering down the street, heading toward a busy intersection, no owner in sight. Conscience takes over… you turn around, pull over, coax the dog into your car but then what? In a perfect world, the dog has been microchipped and after a quick visit to the closest vet, the profoundly thankful owners are on their way to pick up their escape artist. If it was only that easy EVERY time!

Katy Community ‘Chip Clinic (KCCC) wants it to be that easy, and that’s why volunteers have planned the next event for Saturday, November 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. just before the holidays have us distracted for the next couple of weeks! KCCC is offering $10 microchipping with lifetime registration; community lost and found and pet safety information; and, a pet adoption drive at Whole Foods Market Katy’s PAWS ON THE PATIO! Come by and meet your neighborhood and greater Katy area representatives, pick up a “Good Dog” goody bag that includes useful AREA SPECIFIC info, including coupons for pet-related services!

KCCC is proud to have partnered with Fort Bend Pets Alive! for this effort. Fort Bend Pets Alive! is dedicated to delivering solutions that can make Fort Bend County a no kill community through programs such as education, adoptions, outreach, low cost spay/neuter programs and fostering. Microchipping more pets makes reunions just a phone call away, when animals are brought into a shelter.

Also joining the event will be Dogs on Deployment and Prevent Unwanted Pets. Dogs on Deployment (dogsondeployment.org) provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner’s service commitments. Dogs on Deployment promotes responsible, life-long pet ownership by military pet owners by advocating for military pet owner rights, providing educational resources and granting financial assistance for military pet owners during times of emergency. Prevent Unwanted Pets is dedicated to helping decrease the number of unwanted/euthanized animals in our area. Their mission is to assist people with the spaying and neutering of family pets, feral cat (barn cat) colonies and abandoned animals to decrease pet overpopulation. http://www.pupsofcatspring.com/.

There will also be three Katy-area rescues bringing furry friends looking for furever homes! Stop by and visit with Dachshund Rescue of Houston (www.droh.org); Jamie’s Animal Rescue (http://www.jamiesrescue.org/); and, Saving Our Companion Animals: Fort Bend County: http://www.soca-fbc.org. You might just meet your new best friend!

Finally, we could not pull off this event without the support of these “Top Cat” Supporters:
• All Pets Animal Hospital
• A Pet’s Domain
• Camp Bow Wow
• Cinco Ranch Dental
• Circle Lake Ranch Pet Resort
• Fulshear Pet Services
• Paws Memorial Services
• Rover Oaks
• Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming Katy
We are so grateful for the support… we are not trying to make a profit, just a difference in the Katy/Fulshear/Richmond/West Houston communities!
