On Thursday, February 18th, 2016 – a total of 32 wooden pallets containing 886 boxes and 8 plastic satchels of books began their 6 week journey. Departing Houston, TX, across 2 oceans to Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania and then over land to northern Malawi. 35,000 plus books in total will be used to set up 10 community libraries in rural areas of northern Malawi.

I cannot thank enough everyone who has been involved in donating their time, energy and resources in some form or the other to make this drive to improve the literate futures of so many, a tangible possibility. In addition, the Lunch for Literacy fund raising gala we hosted last week at The Houston Club was a great success. We raised enough funds to pay for this shipment and more.
This summer, I hope to be able to share with you reports regarding the progress of the libraries when I go to Malawi, along with a few friends.
Thank you once again
