Houston’s most notable women philanthropist and business moguls are being honored at the “Sweet 16” Women’s History Celebration and exhibit unveiling.
In celebration of Women’s History month, the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum in partnership with Lamik Beauty and Millionaire Mommy Society will host the “Sweet 16 Celebration” exhibit, honoring the past, present and future women leaders in Houston, on Saturday, March 5th at 6:00 pm, at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, 3816 Caroline Street, Houston, TX 77004.
This is a must attend for every supporter and advocate of women owned enterprises and philanthropic efforts. The sixteen women being honored have hit the “sweet spot” in their lives by making a significant impact on the Houston community. “This event will be impactful for honorees, attendees, and community leaders”, says Dr. Camille Rodgers, Executive Director of the museum. “It’s important that we host an event of this nature, to create awareness of the daily contributions that Houstonian women make to improve the communities in which they exist, additionally this event will raise funds to support future museum programming”, says Rodgers.
The honorees include Theresa Roemer, Marie Bosarge, CleRenda McGrady, Maria Rios, Carla Lane, Mia Wright, Jade Simmons, Deavra Daughtry, Marilyn Johnson, Ashley Turner, April Day, Karen Carter Richards, Audrey Lawson, Lason Hines, Mary Guillory, Jacquelyn Aluotto, and young entrepreneurs Kamryn Johnson & Saniya-Simone Scott.
The “Sweet 16” celebration will include a photo exhibit of the honorees, cocktail hour, theatrical and musical entertainment, and an awards ceremony. The event will be emceed by News Journalist & Author, Damali Keith of Fox New 26 news. “This women’s event is very significant to have women celebrating other women and girls contributions to contemporary society. We are brewing up more success by having women and girls convene together”, says Kim Roxie, Founder of LAMIK Beauty.
The awardees are being gifted with an exhibit in their honor, displayed at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum from March 5-12, 2016. “We as women all have something in common; it’s the innate drive to succeed against all odds.
