Rosemary Wendorf Nelson
(May 2, 1945 – March 7, 2016)
Rosemary Nelson, a longtime resident of Katy, Texas, went to be with Jesus on Monday, March 7th, 2016. She was born on May 2nd, 1945 in Corsicana, Texas to Ed and Mary Wendorf. She graduated from Corsicana High School where she met and fell in love with her husband of 49 years, John Nelson. Rosemary earned a degree from the University of Texas in Education and was the President of Alpha Z Delta sorority.
She was a devoted teacher and loving mother with a passion for art. This passion led her to create a wholesale business designing inspirational gifts. Later, this became the base for what is now The Cottage Door in Old Towne Katy. She was the first President of the Katy Business Association which she helped establish. Rosemary was a founding member of Kingsland Baptist Church where she was active as a teacher and director of Kings Light drama team. Rosemary traveled the world living in such places as Germany, Saudi Arabia, and New Jersey until settling down in Katy.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Sonny Wendorf. She is survived by her husband, John Nelson; her daughter and spouse, Mary and Matt Dunford; her son and spouse, Mark and Sarah Nelson, and five grandkids, Morgan, Seth, Maci, Hannah, and Adalee; and many loyal friends (including her Ha Ha Sisters), and employees.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, 1344 W. Grand Parkway South in Katy.
Celebration of life service will start at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016, at Kingsland Baptist Church, 20555 Kingsland Blvd in Katy.
