SUGAR LAND (April 26, 2016) – It’s time to put on that new spring hat and pull on your white gloves for the Children’s Museum of Houston’s Hats, Gloves and Boutonnières 13th Annual Fort Bend Spring Brunch. The festive fete, chaired by Fort Bend County residents Debbie Fash, Rachel Leaman and Charlene Pate, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the Char House at Imperial Market. The Spring Brunch benefits the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center and outreach efforts for children in Fort Bend County.
The Museum has delivered outreach programming to low income families living in Fort Bend since the mid-1990s. It has worked with more than 48-partners in the community to ensure underserved populations get free access to the Museum and to raise awareness about the Museum’s family learning programming. Additionally, parents in Fort Bend have benefited from the Museum’s school-based initiatives such as Parent Stars and Para Los Niños, which provide bilingual resources and support so they can increase the learning and literacy skills of their children, as well as from A’STEAM, (Afterschool Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is a program designed to give children opportunities to build levels of scientific and mathematical literacy through hands-on investigations and challenges.
The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:45 a.m. on May 28, 2016. The project is Imperial Market’s first retailer to open in its much-awaited commercial property development on U.S. Route 90 in Sugar Land. Housed on the first floor of a 12,500 square foot repurposed historical building at Imperial Market (formerly known as Imperial Sugar and which is now being restored by Johnson Development), and with the mission to transform communities through innovative child-centered learning, six galleries will be managed as platforms for learning for children from birth to 12-years.
Group tickets to the 13th Annual Fort Bend Spring Brunch are available in sponsorship levels of $3,000, $1,500 and $750. Individual tickets are available for $75. To purchase tickets, contact Skye-Lynn Ferch at (713) 535-7210 or sferch@cmhouston.org.
