Tompkins and Taylor High School Recognized with Top Honors at FBLA National Leadership Conference in Atlanta

More than 9,380 of America’s best and brightest high school students traveled to the Peach State to CONNECT with top future business leaders and showcase their talents as they competed for the opportunity to win more than $179,000 in cash awards.

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference was held June 29–July 2 in Atlanta. Participants from across the United States and abroad attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in more than 65 business and business-related competitive events.

The two schools took a total of sixteen competitors and were able to place in five events.

Sathvik Srikalyani, Alex Wang, Ridwana Islam, Aidan Cremins from Tompkins High School and Yash Kakodkar from Taylor High School in Katy received national recognition at the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program on July 2. Srikalyani competed in FBLA Principles and Procedures and brought home first place. Wang competed in Introduction to Financial Math and brought home sixth place. Islam competed in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure and brought home fourth place. Cremins competed in Introduction to Business Communications and brought home ninth place. Kakodkar competed in Graphic Design and brought home second place.

“I had a great time at the conference. I was able to connect with competitors from around the nation and had the opportunity to show what I know. Walking up on the stage in front of thousands of people is a feeling like no other. The experience really opened up my eyes to the fact that hard work truly does pay off. ,” said Sathvik Srikalyani, first place winner in FBLA Principles and Procedures.

The awards were part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational speakers on a broad range of business topics.
