Houston, TX – Saturday, November 5th Bayou Land Conservancy (BLC) will celebrate 20 years of preserving Texas, for Texans, at a gala hosted by Southwestern Energy (NYSE:SWN) at the newly constructed campus at 10000 Energy Drive in Spring, south of The Woodlands. SWN is providing space for the event and also a Cypress Creek sponsorship to support the mission of BLC.
The BLC gala will celebrate 20 years of preserving native Texas landscapes in the Houston region, now standing at more than 12,500 acres. Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle will be the event’s keynote speaker and a special focus will be honoring the many landowners that partner with BLC by preserving land.
SWN’s 26-acre property, located just off of I-45 in Springwoods Village, boasts creative architectural details maximizing cost-effectiveness and efficiency, all while incorporating the surrounding lush, native landscape into the overall campus design. The facility, was certified LEED Gold for its construction, and was designed with a focus on the social energy and connection within the community that has helped SWN become the third largest producer of natural gas in the lower 48 states. From intimate collaboration areas, to the on-campus fitness center, to outdoor walking trails, healthy choices in market, natural lighting across all floors to “bring nature inside”, employees have access to a variety of work spaces, both indoors and out, designed specifically for promoting innovation, creativity and teamwork.
The native landscape features:
- Almost 6,000 trees planted to reforest areas disturbed during construction or that were bare when the land was purchased.
- Plantings are native to area within 100 miles, which required limited watering. Including large wild flower and native grass spaces. Minimal manicured spaces (narrow spaces along main entry and behind lobby).
- Irrigation comes from the Springwoods Village retention ponds
- 1 mile nature walk trail (through the woods)
