CAPSFinding forever families for Harris County’s neglected and abused animals has been the mission of Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) since it opened its doors in 1972.  On Saturday, November 5, CAP is inviting the community to its free Family Fun Fest from 4:30-6 p.m. at its facility located at 17555 Katy Freeway.

During the Family Fun Fest, children and their parents will be able to visit animals up for adoption and participate in animal-themed crafts, games and face painting.  Newly adopted pets and their new families will receive a free photo and birth certificate to commemorate this special day.

“Celebrating family is what CAP is all about,“ said Tracy Wallace, Shelter Activities Coordinator. “Adopting a pet into your family is a gift everyone will enjoy.”

The Family Fun Fest is being coordinated by Senior Girl Scout Kylie Baker as her Gold Award Project.  Baker, who lives with four rescued pets, shares CAP’s vision to prevent animal cruelty and promote adoption of homeless animals. “I hope that families will come to the Fest to have a great time and learn how they can help CAP find permanent, caring homes for the shelter’s animals,” said Baker.

Citizens for Animal Protection is a non-profit organization which shelters, rescues and places homeless animals for adoption with loving families. CAP advocates respect and compassion for animal life and provides humane education to help end cruelty to animals.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest and most prestigious award that a girl scout can earn.  Open only to girl scouts in high school, the award’s purpose is to inspire them to use their talents and passions to make positive changes in their communities.
