Ide Thompson, a resident of Katy, Texas, recently participated in FallSERVE, a King’s College sponsored volunteer event.
FallSERVE is one of three annual outreach programs coordinated through the College’s Shoval Center. The trip functions as an alternative way for King’s students to spend Fall Break. Students use their Fall Break to volunteer in a community.
In the last several years, FallSERVE volunteers went to sites in New York, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. This year students were able to stay local and serve in Wilkes-Barre devoting their time to local programs. During the course of the break, volunteers participated in a walking tour of Wilkes-Barre, and assisted at Ruth’s Place and the Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services in Wilkes-Barre, and the Catherine McAuley Center and the Community Intervention Center of Scranton.
He is a senior psychology major at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
